The LIVE Centre is a resource for Concordia students, staff and faculty looking to get involved in the community through volunteering. Our drop-in centre is welcoming to all who are hoping to find an opportunity either on or off campus. The role of the Sustainability Ambassador will be to help research and connect with organizations working to promote and run sustainability focused programming. Recruiting and training volunteers may also be part of your responsibilities.

Sustainable Concordia (SC) is a student fee-levy group working to create a culture of intersectional sustainability at Concordia by advocating for change through campaigns and being a resource initiative to the student & wider community. The roles of 6 Sustainability Ambassadors will include: the support of internal developments of SC through policy work and revamping our website, and to support external work of helping to transcribe and develop our podcasts, and to volunteer at our resource library. Pairs of SAs will work with a specific coordinator to complete tasks relevant to their position.

Zero Waste Concordia is a community-driven program run out of Facilities Management helping Concordians reach the University’s Zero Waste goals: diverting 90% of materials from the landfill and reducing our waste by 50%. We offer zero waste event support, fulfill waste bin requests, and run a reusable container sharing program. We also support initiatives like Concordia Precious Plastics Project (CP3), the Concordia University Centre for Creative Reuse (CUCCR), and Digitizing Waste. Our volunteers help at zero waste events by providing reusable containers, giving sorting instructions, collecting surplus food, and helping set up effective waste bins and signage. They also help maintain our waste bins, tag photos of waste, and educate the community on waste sorting. If you’re excited about sustainability and waste reduction, we can’t wait to have you join our team!

CUCCR diverts materials from Concordia’s waste-stream, offering them to the general community for free. Sustainability Ambassadors at CUCCR help the team sort and display new items, chat with community members entering the space to help them find what they need and get connected to the sustainability community, weigh items as guests check out, and research creative ways to reuse or maintain everyday items to share with peers in person and virtually. By the end of the year, you will have created at least 2 educational posts for CUCCR’s social media, have created strong connections with regular visitors, and helped organize and facilitate a Don’t Buy That event!

CEED Concordia is an organization that provides opportunities to students in Montreal and Uganda to contribute to sustainable community projects in the form of internships, events, competitions, programs and employment opportunities. These initiatives allow young people to gain first-hand experience in the international development sector and build valuable work skills. The projects our interns work on are mostly linked to environmental sustainability, entrepreneurship, advocacy, technology and media. The role of the Sustainability Ambassador will be to help with research and communications tasks such as organizing and preparing photos and captions to share on our social media platforms and website.  Basic translation and event planning support may also be part of your responsibilities if you are interested.

Fair trade contributes to the empowerment of rural populations around the world. As a Fair Trade certified campus, Concordia provides Fair Trade-certified products on campus, encourages the use of Fair Trade products among our community, and encourages Fair Trade engagement and education.

LPVR aims to provide a safe, accessible, inclusive, and affordable bike repair facility for Loyola students and residents of NDG. This includes building safe and reliable bikes and selling them to the community at an affordable price. 

The CSU’s mission is to serve students, defend their rights, and act as their highest representative body at Concordia. Two things are essential: that they are beholden to their membership, and that funds are used responsibly. They exist to help and advocate for 35,000+ undergraduate students. They do this by providing important services, facilitating health insurance coverage, supporting student-led clubs and projects, running annual social justice campaigns, demanding that student voices be heard within the university administration, and providing membership with as many opportunities to get involved in campus life as possible.
