Biography

Bram Freedman is an attorney who was appointed Vice-President, External Relations and Secretary-General at Concordia University in February 2008. In May 2011, his title was modified to Vice-President, Institutional Relations and Secretary-General to reflect the addition of the Human Resources function to his portfolio.

Reporting to the President, he manages government and external relations, university governance, human resources and legal affairs. Freedman’s other responsibilities include oversight of institutional records management and archives, translation services, acting as the link between the Board and Ombudsperson for administrative purposes and the promotion of the values of civility, equity and respect within the university through the Office of Rights and Responsibilities.

In October 2010, Freedman was appointed President of the Concordia University Foundation, which manages funds donated to the university. He had returned to Concordia in 2008 after almost five years as Chief Operating Officer and Director of External Relations at Federation CJA, the central fundraising and community service organization for Quebec’s Jewish community.

Freedman’s volunteerism has included positions such as President of CLSC Métro, Chair of the Executive Committee for Jewish Family Services and President of the Reconstructionist Synagogue of Montreal. He is currently President of the Jewish Eldercare Centre (a long-term health-care facility), a Director of Destination Centre-Ville (a downtown commercial development association) and a member of the Conseil Emploi Métropole (an advisory committee named by the Quebec Minister of Labour).
