About our Governments

Due to its teaching, research and community related activities, the University maintains relationships with the federal, provincial and municipal governments.

In Canada’s federal system, the Government of Canada has policies and programs relating to science and technology and university research.

The Government of Québec has jurisdiction over education and as such is directly involved in university financing, international students as well as research funding.

The University’s impact on the economic and social development of Montréal is extensive. Whether in the area of urban planning and revitalization, community development or the promotion of Montréal as a knowledged-based metropolis, the University has extensive relations with the City of Montréal and its boroughs.
