STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

The International Students Office is looking for a Student Engagement Coordinator and  Volunteer Coordinator for the full 2023-2024 academic year (Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Winter 2024).

Scope: This position plays an integral part in executing the ISO social programming.

Duties Include:

  • Plan, execute and participate in ISO social activities
  • Reach out to and collaborate with on and off campus stakeholders
  • Provide support at orientations and workshops (help with the event preparation, keep registration lists, compile stats and keep track of Workshop Feedback forms)
  • In collaboration with other departments/units, plan and animate ISO field trips (Explore Montreal walks)
  • Engage international students and promote ISO events through various media platforms such as Instagram, as well as in person during tabling events (Volunteer Fair, etc.)
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers.
  • Research and propose event ideas that would be interesting for international students
  • Write social activities reports
  • Develop and plan the Workplace Tours program, as well as take part in the tours

 

Student Engagement and Volunteer Coordinators must also:

  • Be eligible under the Work Study Program - Quebec category - and maintain eligibility while employed in the same status under which he/she was hired
  • Maintain a high academic standing (GPA of at least 3.0)
  • Be available to work 15-20 hours per week on average
  • Result-oriented and passionate about community engagement
  • Have strong oral and written English communication skills for in-person interactions and follow-up emails
  • Knowledge of spoken and written French desirable
  • Have great leadership skills – public-speaking skills an asset
  • Have outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Have excellent organizational skills
  • Possess good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
  • Have the ability to recognize and respect people’s diversity, individual differences, and perspectives
  • Must have outstanding team-work abilities

 

What do you expect the student to gain from this Work-Study experience and exposure in your area?

In this role, a student will gain experience solving problems requiring transdisciplinary solutions and sensitivity. It will also give the student exposure to planning all aspects of social programming for international students and provide an opportunity to innovate and think creatively.

Please note: candidates must be available to work on most Fridays, as well as outside regular work hours for many activities.
