GPWL942 - Trading Online

The terms investing and trading are often confused by the non-financial public. The objective of the workshop is to differentiate between the two activities, explain the inherent risks and potential benefits of trading, as well as go over multiple trading strategies that affect Canadian, US and International markets. The workshop will offer information sources and free online tools required for trading and will provide basic examples of basic examples of strategy execution.

Please note, it is highly recommended that students take GPWL941 and Workshop 1 prior to taking this workshop.

Learning Objectives

In this workshop, participants will:
1. Explore more advanced features of various types of investments and their tax implications.
2. Review some of the most common tax credits and deductions available to Canadians.
3. Learn how to create and maintain a balanced portfolio.

Leaders Information

This workshop is led by Oleg Volgarev, CFA.

Oleg Volgarev is an MBA candidate at Concordia University, John Molson School of Business. He is a CFA Charterholder ® and a graduate of McGill University Desautels Faculty of Management (BCom, Finance). Oleg has been working in the financial industry for over 10 years, holding various roles within Global Trade Finance, Wealth Management, Private Banking and Discount Brokerage. His interests include behavioral finance, infrastructure investments, and corporate efficiency.
