The London Goodenough Association of Canada ("LGAC") invites applications for Scholarships in support of graduate study in London, England for the 2020-21 academic year.

The LGAC awards scholarships towards the cost of accommodation at Goodenough College the pre-eminent residential college for international graduate students in London (www.goodenough.ac.uk). Superbly located in central London, the College attracts members from over 90 countries, creating a rich cultural and academically diverse residential community. Goodenough College is comprised of two main residential halls, both recently renovated: London House, and William Goodenough House. In 2019, for the fourth year in a row, Goodenough College was awarded Best Specialist Accommodation in the National Student Housing Survey, and retained the International Accommodation Quality Mark for the seventh year running.

The LGAC is an association of over 1,800 Canadians who have lived in the College’s residences. Since 1990, it has awarded 190 funded Scholarships with a cumulative value of over $1 million. The awards are funded by individual donors, corporate sponsors and foundations, such as the Molson Foundation, sponsor of the Molson Foundation Scholarship for Francophone Canadians and the Jackman Foundation. In addition to scholarship funding, winners receive guaranteed acceptance for residence at the College, a highly-sought benefit. For 2020-21, the LGAC plans to award five or more scholarships with a value up to £6,000 each as well as the Jackman Foundation scholarship valued at £10,000. Scholarships are awarded principally on the basis of academic excellence, but also take into account the expected contribution that winners will make to the extracurricular life at Goodenough College. Candidates must be full-time students enrolling in an accredited graduate program in London, or undertaking thesis research in London while enrolled elsewhere. Scholarship winners are required to reside at Goodenough College for a minimum term of eight months, although up to two awards will be considered for a minimum residency of six months for applicants engaged in London-based thesis research. All scholarships are awarded for a maximum term of one year and will not be renewed. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

Interested candidates must submit a completed Application Form that can be downloaded from the LGAC’s website (www.lgac.ca). Candidates must also arrange to have original copies of all post-secondary institution transcripts and three letters of reference sent to the address below. Scholarship winners are required to report all other awards they receive. Additional awards may reduce the funding level of an LGAC Scholarship.

The deadline for receipt of all application materials for the 2020-21 academic year is January 24, 2020. Candidates will be notified of the results of their applications in late April, 2020. For further information, visit the LGAC website or email the LGAC at admin@lgac.ca.
