Quebec Mobility Bursary

Through limited funding made available by Québec’s Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur (MEES), qualified students studying outside Quebec as part of their Concordia degree program can apply for a Quebec Mobility Bursary.

Although this Bursary is funded by the Ministère, it is administered jointly by Concordia International and the Concordia Financial Aid and Awards Office.

Important to note: Concordia Student Exchange Program (CSEP), Field school and Summer short-term program applicants do not need to submit a bursary application as it is part of your on-line application and you will automatically be considered for the Quebec Mobility Bursary.

Participants in international conferences are not eligible.

Applicants cannot undertake a research project in a country where they hold citizenship (unless they are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada) 

Below are the general eligibility requirements for the Quebec Mobility Bursary. However, each student's file will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please consult Concordia International if you have any doubts or questions regarding your eligibility.

Undergraduate students

  • Minimum CGPA: 2.7
  • Full-time status: 12 credits per term
  • Completed Credits: 24 credits

Graduate students

  • Minimum CGPA: 3.0
  • Full-time status: 9 credits per term
  • Completed Credits: 9 credits 

All credits earned while receiving the bursary must be applicable to your Concordia degree and cannot exceed program requirements. External transfer credits will not be counted.

Duration of Program

  • The bursary is awarded for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 8 months (2 sessions).

Host Institution & Destination

  • Applicants for internships and visiting international fee-paying programs, must have a host institution (for example a research center, university etc.). 
  •  Applicants cannot undertake a research project at an institution where they have previously completed a degree. 
  • Applicants cannot undertake a research project in a country where they hold citizenship (unless they are a permanent resident or citizen of Canada). 
  • Applicants must meet travel requirements for their intended destination, including visa and/or immigration requirements and associated documentation.

Bursary value depends on duration, the scope and type of project and the availability of funding. The amounts indicated in the table below serve as a reference. Please be advised that funds are limited and Concordia International reserves the right to apply other restrictions if the number of applicants exceeds the availability of funds. Important to note that the bursary is awarded for a minimum of 1 month.

Applications are accepted from September to August 31 on a rolling basis based on the availability of funding. We advise students to apply 6 - 8 weeks before their planned start date. 

It is important to note that successful applicants will receive their award up to 4 weeks after returning a Confirmation of Arrival Form to Concordia International

Faculty/Department/Coop

A confirmation letter from your Faculty/Department/Co-Op indicating the following:

  • The name of the institution you have permission to attend.
  • The semester(s) you have permission to attend this institution.
  • Start and end dates of your project/semester/placement.
  • The course(s) you plan to take abroad or the course(s) you will be enrolled at Concordia while abroad.  
  • The number of credits that will be transferred to your Concordia degree.
  • How this project fulfills any of your Concordia degree program requirements.
  • Confirmation of your full-time enrolment during your stay abroad.

Host Institution

    A copy of your acceptance letter from your host institution including:

  • Start and end dates of your stay
  • Purpose of your stay
  • Name and contact of your supervisor
  • If you are receiving any remuneration

Budget

    Your budget must indicate costs for:

  • Transportation
  • Accommodations
  • Any host institution fees 
  • Other relevant expenses 
  • You must also list any other funding/remuneration you are receiving from other sources

Copy of your Transcript

  • A copy of your most recent transcript.

Banking Information

  • Bank deposit form or void cheque from a Canadian bank. The account must be in your name.

Copy of Passport

  • A copy of your valid passport information page.

Description of your research project (if applicable)

  • Using simplified language understandable to a layperson, provide a general, one page description of your proposed research project.
  • How will your research contribute to your Concordia degree requirement. 

Curriculum Vitae 

  • An up-to-date CV  (maximum 2 pages)

Confirmation of Arrival Form (COA)

  • Successful applicants must return their COA within two weeks of arrival to host institution in order to receive the funds. Concordia International will not accept your COA after the end date of your project.
  • Bursary will be paid out up to 4 weeks after COA is returned.

Important Information:

  • You must be approved by your academic unit and Faculty to take part in a mobility opportunity abroad
  • You may apply multiple times for the Quebec Mobility Bursary however, you cannot exceed the maximum level of assistance per degree.
  • You will receive your bursary payment upon arrival and reception of the mandatory Confirmation of Arrival document (see required documents section). 
  • It is your responsibility to inform Concordia International on any changes of your project prior to your departure (e.g. project dates, location, and duration.) Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of your bursary.
  • The Quebec Mobility Bursary is subject to current tax regulations. 
  • American students participating in the U.S. government Federal Student Aid program (FSA) are strongly encouraged to contact the Financial Aid and Awards Office to confirm their program eligibility before finalizing plans to study abroad.
