Co-op was the experience that allowed me to excel in my academic and professional path. I had the opportunity to do three internships, one of which required me moving to another city and being more self-sufficient. I see my internships as a motivation to excel in school because the “real world” is competitive and those who work hard enough will certainly be rewarded.
My second and third internships were for the same employer and I was fortunate enough to continue working with them part time while I was at school. The more you explore different opportunities, the better it is because you meet new people and are faced with new challenges that test your capabilities and allow for personal, academic and professional growth.
I learned how to manage my time efficiently and manage my stress by being organized and prioritizing tasks.
My advice for students is to explore and participate as much as you can in academic, extra-curricular and sport activities. They’re great ways to meet people who share similar interests as you and you never know what you can learn!
