Single Session Walk-in Clinic

At Counselling and Psychological Services, we understand that not every student wants or needs on-going counselling or psychotherapy. A single session with a counsellor might be all that is needed to gain some perspective on a troubling situation or to gain some relief. To this end, CPS is offering a Single Session Walk-In Clinic to provide students with access to a counsellor for a single session.

What to expect:

When you register at the front desk, you will be given paperwork to complete to establish the goal of the session and define what you are looking for. The counsellor will begin by gaining a clear definition of your need for the session. Through a solution-focused model, they will assist you in mobilizing an action plan to work towards your goal. Together you will focus on identifying barriers, brainstorm possible solutions and utilize strengths and resources that will lead to positive changes.

Please be aware that Single Session Walk-Ins are NOT a substitute for on-going counselling, nor is it meant for students who are experiencing a mental health crisis. These sessions are not available for those students already making use of our short-term counselling services.

How to access the Single Session Clinic:

Appointments are offered on a first-come, first-served basis every Friday at GM 300, from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

We recommended that you arrive at 9:00AM to register for a spot that will be offered to you that day, the last appointment being at 2:30PM.

NB: Counsellors are not able to provide letters of support during a SSWIC appointment
