Pay your tuition fees

It is important to pay your tuition and fees on time
to avoid any late-payment fees.

How to Pay Your Tuition and Fees

The easiest and most convenient way to pay tuition fees is by Interac (debit/bank card) via the MyConcordia Portal (if you bank with Scotiabank, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank, or TD Canada Trust). Interac payments made online through the Portal will appear on your student account instantly.

Once logged in to MyConcordia, you can find the online payment form under the menu item “Student Account Services”.

Tuition fees can also be paid via your bank’s telephone or online banking services, or by an automated teller machine (ATM). To pay by these methods, you must set up Concordia University as a bill payee with a Canadian chartered bank and use your seven-digit student ID number as the Concordia account number. There is a minimum processing time of three to five business days for the payment to appear on your student account.

Please refer to the Tuition and Fees website (concordia.ca/admissions/tuition-and-fees/undergraduate/regulations/obligations) for a complete list of Methods of Payment.

In-person payments can be made at the Birks Student Service Centre (LB 185) by personal or certified cheque, money order, bank draft or debit card (Interac). Cash and credit cards are not accepted as forms of tuition payment.

Picking Up Your Student Loan

Student financial aid is disbursed at the Financial Aid and Awards Office. However, there are some exceptions so please check the MyConcordia Portal for the exact location of where to pick up your loan or bursary. To find out if your loan or bursary is ready to be picked up, log in to the MyConcordia Portal and access the “Financial” tab on the left of your screen. Next, click on “Financial Aid and Awards,” then “Loan and Bursary.” If you are expecting a payment and there is none available, please call Financial Aid and Awards at 514-848-2424, ext. 3507.

Loan Disbursement Requirements (all Provinces Except Quebec)

In order to pick up your loan and have it signed, you must present two forms of valid, government- issued identification. It is important that the combination of these two pieces of identification include your photo, your name, your address and your Social Insurance Number.

International Fee Exemptions

The Quebec Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has established a number of fee exemptions for International students, which allow them to pay the Quebec tuition rate rather than the International tuition rate. Some of the exemption categories are: Diplomats and their dependents, refugees and French citizens. Please consult the following site for complete details: registrar.concordia.ca/InternationalFee.

French Program Fee Exemptions

Full-time undergraduate out-of-province Canadian citizens or permanent residents studying French Language or Literature or taking individual French courses may be exempt from the differential fees for some French courses. International students may be exempted from differential fees for approved French courses if they are taken within a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD program. For further information, please consult the website: frenchprogramexemption.concordia.ca.

Quebec Residency and Quebec Residency Fees

Anyone who is not a Quebec resident pays an additional differential fee per credit. This fee is collected by Quebec universities on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education.

If I am a Quebec Resident, How do I Prove it?

There are 14 different scenarios outlined by the Quebec Ministry of Higher Education that will grant you Quebec residency. All students, including those who have previously studied at a Quebec Cegep, should verify that their Quebec residency has been established at Concordia. Check your residency status before the fee payment deadline by logging onto the MyConcordia Portal and verifying that the fees being charged to your student account are correct. For further information on Quebec residency, please consult the website: quebecresidency.concordia.ca.

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and qualify under the Quebec Ministry of Higher Education's criteria you can apply for Quebec resident status and upload supporting documents by logging onto the MyConcordia Portal, selecting “Student Services” and “Quebec Residency Application.”

“Permanent Code” Surcharge

Everyone studying within Quebec must obtain an additional identification number called a “permanent code” from the Quebec Ministry of Higher Education. If you do not have one already, obtaining your permanent code is easy and free. Submit a permanent code data form through the MyConcordia Portal, and upload your supporting documents (birth certificate, record of landing, or student authorization). If you do not receive a permanent code, you will be charged an additional surcharge per credit. For more information about the permanent code, visit permanentcode.concordia.ca.

Deadline to apply for your permanent code and have the surcharge removed:
