When it comes to planning the financing of your studies, the most important thing to remember is, don't wait!

Applying for Government Student Loans and Bursaries

If you plan on seeking provincial assistance to help finance your education, you should have already applied by the time you receive your Offer of Admission. If you haven’t done so, apply as soon as possible!

Students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents apply for government student loans from the province in which they reside. All supporting documents must be sent to the province in which you applied. Any requests for confirmation of student status, enrolment or program information forms should be forwarded to the Financial Aid and Awards Office (FAAO) to be processed. The deadlines to submit applications vary. Please check the appropriate provincial or territorial financial assistance website for deadlines. Provincial website links can be found on the FAAO website, faao.concordia.ca. International students must seek government assistance from their home country.

Quebec Student Loans and Bursaries

Quebec residents can apply for Quebec loans and bursaries online at afe.gouv.qc.ca/index.asp. Students are encouraged to submit their loan or bursary application as early as possible and at least six to eight weeks before beginning their studies.

Scholarships and Bursaries

Concordia offers two types of awards to first-time university students: Entrance Scholarships and Entrance Bursaries.

  • Entrance Scholarships
Entrance scholarships are awarded by each Faculty. The scholarships are awarded based on scholastic achievement and in some cases, non-academic criteria. There is no application necessary for the majority of scholarships. If you have been awarded a scholarship, there will be a notification on your Offer of Admission or you will be contacted by the Faculty.

  • Entrance Bursaries
Undergraduate bursaries are awarded primarily on the basis of financial need and academic standing. Students can complete the Entrance Bursary application online through the MyConcordia Portal.

Other Scholarship Opportunities

External awards include privately funded scholarships and bursaries sponsored and administered by external associations, companies, foundations, societies, and clubs. Applications must be submitted directly to these organizations and this information can be found on the Financial Aid and Awards website.
