Academic dress
The Convocation ceremonies are academic ceremonies. Academic dress – also known as regalia – is worn by all participants in the ceremonies.
Doctoral/Doctorate hoods are a modified Cambridge cut, made of garnet stuff and bordered with a one-inch band of gold silk. The colour of the lining indicates the degree.
The Doctor of/Doctorate in:
- Laws hood is lined with gold silk.
- Letters hood is lined with pale blue silk.
- Philosophy hood is lined with white silk.
- Science hood is lined with pale green silk.
Master/Magisteriate hoods are modified Oxford cut, made of black silk and bordered with a one-inch band of silk of the colour of the lining. The colour of the lining indicates the degree.
The Master of/Magisteriate in:
- Applied Science hood is lined with pale yellow silk.
- Arts hood is lined with pale blue silk.
- Business Administration hood is lined with mauve silk.
- Computer Science hood is lined with peach (pale orange) silk.
- Engineering hood is lined with orange silk.
- Fine Arts hood is lined with deep blue silk.
- Science hood is lined with pale green silk.
- Science (Administration) hood is lined with magenta silk.
- The Teaching of Mathematics hood is lined with deep green silk.
Bachelor/Baccalaureate hoods are a modified Oxford cut, made of black silk and bordered with a three-inch band of white material, and lined with silk, the colour of the lining indicating the degree.
The Bachelor of/Baccalaureate in:
- Administration hood is lined with mauve silk.
- Arts hood is lined with pale blue silk.
- Commerce hood is lined with mauve silk.
- Computer Science hood is lined with peach (pale orange) silk.
- Education hood is lined with half pale blue silk and half golden yellow.
- Engineering hood is lined with orange silk.
- Fine Arts hood is lined with deep blue silk.
- Science hood is lined with pale green silk.
