Several countries around the world have enacted regulations that impose minimum efficiency performance standards on induction motors that are manufactured and utilized in the respective countries. These regulations have successively been more and more stringent over time. From the industry standpoint, it is widely held that induction motors have now been regulated to their maximum technologically reasonable limits of efficiency.

In this presentation, a simplified analysis, based on classical design considerations, is applied to address the technical challenges of increasing efficiency beyond the levels currently in effect. Other pertinent aspects of the regulatory process for establishing mandatory minimum efficiency levels in the US are discussed.

Register for this event today! The registration is free and it is necessary for catering.

This event is organized by Concordia's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, IEEE Montréal Section & Montréal Chapters of the Power Engineering Society, Industrial Electronic Society and the Industry Applications Society (PES/IES/IAS).
