The Annual Day of Remembrance and Action Against Mass Atrocities is an opportunity to come together to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide and to honor Irwin Cotler for his leadership in human rights.

The aim of the event is to commemorate the annual Day of Remembrance and Action Against Mass Atrocities by awarding the first Roméo Dallaire Humanitarian award to human rights defender The Honorable Irwin Cotler and by hosting a panel discussion commemorating the Rwandan genocide that occurred 20 years ago.

The panel discussion on lessons learned from the Rwandan genocide will feature Paul Dewar (NDP Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre and official Opposition Critic for Foreign Affairs), Léo Kalinda (journalist, Radio-Canada), Naomi Kikoler (Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, New York City), Lisa Ndejuru (PAGE Rwanda).
