Opportunities

Join the CERC in Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Communities and Cities research team.

Concordia has just received $10M to develop tools and strategies for zero-carbon communities. World-renowned sustainable energy technologies expert Ursula Eicker has joined the university to lead new cities-related initiatives as the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) for Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Cities and Communities.

One main goal of the CERC is to develop an integrated urban data and modeling platform to monitor and optimize energy performance and to plan zero carbon strategies for cities. Data from buildings and renewable energy plants will be collected and integrated into the platform as best practice examples.

To design transformation strategies for Next Generation Cities, we need to explore the existing city data, develop modeling tools and combine expertise from renewable energies, low energy building, the transport and industry sector. A joint data management and simulation urban platform will be developed to share information and support decision making. Researchers will be supported by a software development and IT team.
