Chemistry
Chemistry is the science that examines the structure of substances and their reactions to produce novel and useful products.
BSc Honours in Chemistry — 60 credits*
This program includes a Research Project and Thesis designed to provide training and practice in research under the direction of a faculty member of the Department. A high level of performance is required to enter and remain in the Honours program.
BSc Specialization in Chemistry — 60 credits*
Similar to Honours, but the Research Project and Thesis is replaced by an Independent Study and Practicum course.
BSc Major in Chemistry — 45 credits
Includes courses in Analytical, Organic, Physical, and Inorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Spectroscopy.
Minor in Chemistry — 24 credits
Provides a coherent view of chemistry while complementing another area of study. The course pattern chosen must have been previously approved by a department program advisor.
* The Ordre des chimistes du Québec has fully accredited the curricula of these programs. Upon satisfactory completion of this program, a graduate is eligible for membership in the Order. A working knowledge of French is also required for membership in the Ordre des chimistes du Québec.
