BSc Honours in Biology — 72 credits

Designed for outstanding students who wish to follow a vigorous sequence of courses in preparation for graduate work or professional training. A high level of performance is required to enter and remain in the program.

BSc Specialization in Biology — 60 credits

Similar to Honours, but no special performance level is required and it does not require Independent Study.

BSc Major in Biology — 45 credits

Designed for students not wishing a heavy specialization in the subject. The Major is often taken together with a Major or Minor from another department.

Minor in Biology — 24 credits

Highly flexible and designed for students whose main interest is in another department.

Department of Biology

The Department offers a broad education in the fundamentals of the biological sciences. With a variety of programs to choose from and an opportunity to conduct original, independent research in the areas of Behavioural Ecology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Conservation Biology, Entomology, Fish Ecology, Genetics, Genomics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Molecular Ecology, Plant Biology, and Wildlife Ecology, our students can truly expand their horizons in the field of biology.

Our Department is located in the state-of-the-art Richard J. Renaud Science Complex on the grounds of the beautiful Loyola Campus. We have spacious undergraduate teaching facilities and some of the finest research laboratories in the world. You will have the chance to work directly with our accessible and outstanding professors to gain practical research experience.
