Admission Requirements for Journalism

Program Type

Quota Program — Entry is competitive and selective, and the number of qualified applicants may exceed the number of places available. Applicants who meet the stated minimum requirements are not guaranteed admission to these programs. Closing dates for applications are stringently applied. Departmental recommendation needed.

Additional Requirements

  • Letter of intent outlining the purpose and reason for selecting this program/discipline
  • English Proficiency Test
  • Knowledge of written and spoken English, as determined by a placement or proficiency test, the results of which could lead to a refusal to admit to the program or to the imposition of specified make-up courses

Admission Procedure

Step 1 (by March 1)
Submit the University's online admission application at Connect2.Concordia.ca.

Step 2 (by March 1)
Submit the following documents to the Department of Journalism in person or by mail:

  • Summary Sheet
  • Letter of Intent
  • Transcript(s)

Step 3 (Journalism Department English Skills Test Requirement):
The English test requirement must be met by all applicants, regardless of mother tongue or language of instruction.

  • All North American applicants must arrange to write the Journalism Department's English test.
  • All International applicants must submit the results from a TOEFL/IELTS exam by March 20.
