Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering involves the design, construction and control of machines and equipment, as well as the research and development of new processes, materials and techniques. Mechanical engineers are involved in an astounding array of fields such as internal combustion or jet engine design, vibration analysis, control engineering, production engineering, materials handling, measurements, heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
BEng in Mechanical Engineering — 120 credits
- Aerospace and Propulsion Option: Gas dynamics, turbo machinery and propulsion, gas turbines, jet and rocket engines, internal combustion power plants, heat exchangers, solar and nuclear power generators, heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, aircraft structures, avionics, and space systems.
- Design and Manufacturing Option: Machinery design, computer aided design and manufacturing, production and materials engineering, finite element analysis, and design and fabrication of microsystems.
- Systems and Mechatronics Option: Design and analysis of mechanical and hybrid control systems, servo mechanisms, feedback systems, fluid power devices, flight control systems, avionic navigation systems, vehicle system design, and vehicle dynamics.
Sample projects:
