Industrial Engineering
Industrial Engineering involves the analysis, design, implementation and control of integrated systems consisting of people, material, equipment, information and modes of communication. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skills in mathematics, basic and applied engineering sciences and social sciences. Industrial engineers specify, predict, evaluate and design systems with a view to improve productivity, quality and safety. The basic aspects of the program are manufacturing engineering, production management, safety engineering, human factors and associated disciplines. Although the term "industrial engineering" is often associated with manufacturing systems, it can also be applied to problems in government, hospitals, banks and other service sector organizations.
BEng in Industrial Engineering — 120 credits
A broad introduction to industrial systems, quality control and reliability, facilities design and material handling systems, computer integrated manufacturing, industrial economics and finance, human factors engineering, engineering management, production engineering, inventory control and industrial operations research.

Co-op Program
Students are trained in production management, manufacturing systems, quality management, facilities planning, simulation and safety engineering, and are involved in reviewing, updating and classifying technical documentation. Co-op students may be found evaluating the ergonomics of a work station or assisting in the implementation of an asbestos management program. By the time students are into their final project, they are functioning in a way that most firms expect from their qualified engineers. Assigned tasks may range from setting up a preventative maintenance program or designing a plant layout to accommodate a specific production line.
