IEW 2017 Final Calendar

 

International Education Week is a worldwide initiative for informing students of the benefits of education abroad and exchange.  

This year, Concordia International is offering a full week of activities! We invite all Concordia students to partcipate.  There will be many chances to connect with incoming exchange students from around the world, to learn about what it is like to live and study abroad, and to discover the international programs available to Concordia students. Please see below for a full list of activities. 

We encourage you to pre-register here for any events you would like to attend (although registration is not mandatory, this will help us have a better idea of how many students we can expect in attendence).

 


Monday, November 6

Study in France (2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Annex X):  Learn about the French host institutions that interest you and about what it is like to live and study in France.  Hosted by Michelle Camara from Campus France and Concordia International’s expert on French exchanges, Pauliina Rouleau.  Chouquettes and coffee to be served.

Evening Concordia Student Exchange Program Information Session (6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Annex X):  Join us for an evening CSEP information session hosted Ms. Christine Archer, International Liaison Officer for the Americas, Asia and Oceania.  If you can’t attend our daytime sessions, this is a great chance for you to learn how you can study abroad. 


Tuesday, November 7

United Kingdom Meet & Greet (10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Annex X):   Join us at Concordia International for tea and scones and information on the British/Scottish host institutions that interest you!  Meet exchange students from the UK currently studying at Concordia.

Oceania Meet & Greet (11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Annex X) Interested in an exchange in the Land Down Under?  Join us to meet students from Australian universities who are currently studying at Concordia.  This is your chance to ask questions about the host institutions that interest you and to acquire knowledge of what it is like to live and study in Australia.

Spanish-Speaking Meet & Greet (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Annex X):  Connect with students who are from Spanish-speaking host institutions and are currently studying at Concordia.  Learn where in Spain and Latin America you can study on exchange.  Light refreshments to be served.

Concordia Student Exchange Program Information Session (3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Annex X):  Learn how you can study abroad as part of the Concordia Student Exchange Program!  Information about choosing a host institution, applying for the program, and available funding opportunities for exchange will be discussed.

Journalism/Communications Information Session (4:15 PM to 5:30 PM, LOY-CJ 3.306):  A Concordia Student Exchange Program Information Session specifically for Journalism and Communications Studies students.  Learn how you can study abroad and how to make exchange work for your program!  Hosted at Loyola Campus. 


Wednesday, November 8

Study Abroad Fair (11:00 PM to 3:00 PM, LB Atrium) : Learn about the Concordia Student Exchange Program and other international activities available to Concordia students.  Stop by Conordia's Study Abroad Fair to meet exchange students from abroad and Concordia’s International Liaison Officers. We will be LB Atrium all day with a number of guests ready to talk to you about why you should become a student of the world!

Concordia Student Exchange Program Information Session (3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Annex X):  Learn how you can study abroad as part of the Concordia Student Exchange Program!  Information about choosing a host institution, applying for the program, and available funding opportunities for exchange will be discussed.

Concordia in Spain Summer Program (4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Annex X):  Learn about the Concordia in Spain program from past program participants!  This short-term summer program is a great way to learn Spanish while earning credits towards your Concordia degree. 


Thursday, November 9

German-Speaking Meet & Greet (11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Annex X):  Members of the Concordia German Language Student Association (CGLSA) will be present for a very special Kaffeestunde (German coffee hour) at this Meet & Greet for German-Speaking countries!  Join us to celebrate German language and culture.

Netherlands Meet & Greet (1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Annex X) Concordia students are increasingly choosing the Netherlands as an exchange destination due to its innovative academic programs, excellent travel location, and variety of English-language courses.  Meet exchange students from the Netherlands to learn about the opportunities available at our Dutch partner institutions!

Asia Meet & Greet (3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Annex X):  Explore Concordia’s myriad partner institutions across Asia.  Meet incoming exchange students and learn about the academic and cultural aspects of exchange in countries such as Japan, China, South Korea, India, Malaysia and Singapore.  Tea and snacks will be served.


Friday, November 10

Graduate Student Mobility Award Information Session (10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Annex X):  For Graduate students who are interested in performing research, coursework or internships outside of Quebec.  The Graduate Student Mobility Award offers funding for students registered in Concordia degree programs who are interested in pursuing international (or national) projects as part of their degree-program requirements.  Learn how you can use Graduate Student Mobility Award funding to enhance your degree.

CSEP Application Workshop (2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Annex X):  Need help preparing your Concordia Student Exchange Program application?  Looking for one-on-one advice from a Concordia International Liaison Officer?  Drop in anytime from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday, November 10.  Bring your laptop, open up your application form, and Concordia International will help get you started.
