Our mission & statistics
In order to advance our mission, to increase access and reduce barriers to academic participation in the University, we partner with members of the Concordia community to engage in three aspects of this important work.
We offer a digital conversion service (e-text) for textbooks and course packs, assist with applications for government funding, and offer one-on-one meetings with advisors who assist students to develop skills of self-advocacy as they move through their degrees. Disability-specific learning strategy support is also offered to individuals where needed.
Recognizing the value of small group sessions to enable students connect to each other as a community, to support and learn from each other, we run workshops on various topics related to specific disability conditions, access technology, and on effective ways to use the resources available.
We work collaboratively with professors to provide students with course materials in alternate formats, assistance with materials in the classroom, and the ability to write exams under accommodated conditions if necessary.
We collaborate with Facilities Management, Office of the Registrar, Environmental Health and Safety and the Security Department, among others, to facilitate access to the various buildings on both campuses.
