The following events are held annually by and for the Concordia community.
FALL
Concordia's Homecoming activities take place early in the fall. This alumni reunion week-and-a-half includes a gala dinner/dance, the Abitibi-Consolidated lecture series, campus tours, the Homecoming Cup Football Game and the Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet.
Prospective students and their families are encouraged to visit the open house, where they can meet Concordians, tour the campus, submit portfolios and much more.
The Shuffle is a 6.5-km fundraising walkathon from Sir George Williams Campus to Loyola Campus. This annual fall event is open to all Concordia faculty members, staff, students and friends who collect pledges for student scholarships and bursaries. Besides a chance to exercise, participants receive a Shuffle T-shirt, a picnic at the finish line and chances to win many great prizes.
Usually held in mid-October, this annual football game raises funds for the Montreal Shiners Hospital for Children.
Caring Concordians participate in the Centraide appeal in Montreal. Funds are raised with bake sales and pasta lunches, and those who give through payroll deductions are included in the weekly prize draws.
WINTER
Concordia University’s President’s Conference Series celebrates excellence in research through lectures, performance, readings and interactive events. The goal of the series is to build connections between Concordia professors and students, international scholars and the wider community by engaging participants in stimulating debates on issues of concern to today’s society.
Interested in becoming a Concordia student? The annual Application Information Fair is held annually at the downtown Sir George Williams campus. It is a great opportunity to ask about program selection, admission requirements, applying on-line, or to speak with faculty, staff and department representatives. Everyone is welcome.
National Engineering Week, a national celebration of engineering excellence, culminates in a bridge building competition where teams from visiting universities subject their creations to the "Crusher" to see which bridge is the strongest and most durable.
SPRING
We celebrate the awarding of certificates, diplomas and degrees at the undergraduate and post-graduate level every spring and fall. Students, faculty, staff and their families get together for this very special event. Honorary degrees are also presented at these ceremonies, and Multi-faith Chaplaincy hosts a multi-faith celebration that includes an evening of music, movement, visual art, reflections, meditation and short films.
SUMMER
This golf tournament for avid or aspiring golfers is held every summer. It's a chance to team up with co-workers and play for one of many prizes. Proceeds go toward scholarships.
