Feb. 7 - Music faculty research lecture series: Kevin Austin

Music prof reflects on legacy of founding father of electroacoustic music Istvan Anhalt

Almost a year ago, in February 2012, Istvan Anhalt, one of Canada's most highly respected composers and educators, died at the age of 92. In this event February 7, Music Professor Kevin Austin reflects on Anhalt’s legacy and discusses how this founding father of Canadian electroacoustic music influenced his own life and choices.

Istvan for four MIDI-strated orchestras in 5.1, a memorial work composed by Austin, will be presented in public for the first, and possibly the last, time. A brief analysis will also be given.

Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
