Writers Read, a speakers’ series supported by the Department of English and the Creative Writing Program, regularly invites authors to make a presentation and read from their works. On February 1, Madeleine Thien is invited to Concordia University.
Thien is the author of three books of fiction, including Dogs at the Perimeter, published in Canada and the U.K. in 2011. Her novel, Certainty, won the Amazon.ca First Novel Award and the international Ovid Festival Prize, and her books have been translated into 18 languages. She lives in Montreal.

Writers Read is one of a long tradition of diverse literary reading series at Concordia University and has hosted authors including Lydia Davis, Roddy Doyle, Mary Gaitskill, and CD Wright. We welcome Madeleine Thien, who, along with Charles Bernstein, Rae Armantrout, Chris Kraus, Kevin Barry, Juliana Spahr, and derek beaulieu, will help make this an especially engaging 2012-13 season.
