Mar. 13 - "How Public is the Public Healthcare System?"

Panel discussion on public healthcare system to evaluate the nature of the changes the public health care system is undergoing, particularly in Quebec.

A panel discussion on the public healthcare system in Canada, entitled "How Public is the Public Healthcare System?" will be hosted by Concordia’s School of Community and Public Affairs (SCPA).

Panellists are Yanick Labrie of the Montreal Economic Institute; community organizer Me Bertrand Loiselle; as well as Dr. Saïdeh Khadir of Canadian Doctors for Medicare. Moderator Antonia Maioni is director of the Canadian Studies Institute at McGill University.

The panel promises to go beyond a simple debate about a universal public system versus a private one, or about pros and cons of public-private partnerships and their impacts on consumers. The panels plans to evaluate the nature of the changes the public health care system is undergoing, particularly in Quebec, and find out if it is as public as we defend it.

When: Tuesday, March 13, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Samuel Bronfman Building (1590 Docteur-Penfield Ave.), Sir George Williams Campus
