The Hip Hop: Past/ Present/Future class, a Fine Arts course for non-fine arts students taught by The Narcicyst and Marc Peters, has organized a conference with local montreal emcees, DJs, producers, promoters and hip hop community members to discuss the issues plaguing the city of Montreal, the recent losses of important figures in the scene, and the rebirth of a community that lacks visibility outside of the country.
The focus is on harnessing the creative energy of a diverse community in struggle. Questions asked include: Where do the emcees who speak of our stories live and how are they growing/stagnating in Montreal? How do we pay homage to our departed? How do we produce as a scene, individually and artistically? Is our content helping us move forward or holding us back?
This three-hour session is open to the public. It is a free event and is open to ideas, questions, thoughts and all around conversation. People are urged to join the conversation and help captivate the energy that is Montreal, creatively, intelligently, respectfully and in unity.
Guests are encouraged to join the event on Facebook
When: Tuesday, February 14, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: D.B. Clarke Theatre, Henry F. Hall Building (1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. W.), Sir George Williams Campus
