Feb. 6 to 9 - National Therapeutic Recreation Awareness Week

Join us for free workshops that emphasize the use of recreation in enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities

In celebrating National Therapeutic Recreation Awareness Week, we recognize the importance of using leisure in ways that enhance the wellness, functional abilities, and quality of life for people with disabilities.

In keeping with this year’s theme, Promoting Wellness Through Leisure, recreation therapy students at Concordia are pleased to offer a number of free events to everyone in the Concordia community from Monday, February 6 to Thursday, February 9.

What: Information booth
When: Monday, February 6 to Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Atrium of the Vanier Library (VL) Building, Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.)
Stop by to find out more about therapeutic recreation, meet the students and take the time to participate in games and activities for chances to win a variety of prizes.

What: Relaxation workshop
When:
Monday, February 6 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Where:
Loyola Chapel (Room FC-110), Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.)
Practice meditation, breathing exercises and  Tai Chi.

What: Drama therapy workshop
When: Monday, February 6 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Loyola Chapel (Room FC-110), Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.)
Presented by graduate students in the Concordia’s drama therapy program.

What: Zumba workshop
When: Tuesday, February 7 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Loyola Chapel (Room FC-110), Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.)
Aims to encourage an active life through leisure.

What: Laughter yoga workshop
When: Thursday, February 9 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Loyola Chapel (Room FC-110), Loyola Campus (7141 Sherbrooke St. W.)
Giggle your way to better health.
 
All events are free and open to the Concordia community.
