A call for nominations has been issued for one representative from permanent full- and part-time administrative and support staff to be a member on two committees: employee benefits and pension plan.
The Concordia employee benefits committee is a Board of Governors committee that makes decisions on pension plan design and group insurance benefits, while the Concordia pension committee is responsible for the administration of the pension plan.
Membership on both committees includes the president, vice-president, Services, and three members of the Board of Governors. As well, there are two pension plan members, representing and designated by the Concordia University Faculty Association; two members of the plan representing active administrative and support staff, designated by the Electoral College; and one member representing non-active plan members elected by non-active members.
Additionally, the following people are members of the pension committee: the chair of the Board of Governors and one independent member, as required under the Quebec Supplemental Pension Plans Act. The executive director, Finance and Business Operations, acts as the secretary and is a non-voting member on both the pension plan and employee benefits committees.
On November 7, 2012, Carolina Willsher, associate vice-president, Human Resources, will convene the Electoral College to nominate the member for a two-year term, which will run from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015. According to the regulations under the Pension Committee Policy and Benefits Committee Policy, only one person can fill the position on both committees.
