The Montreal World Film Festival (MWFF) has announced that film and journalism students, from all cinema schools and universities, are eligible for free admission to its screenings in all sections, except for the opening and closing evenings. Special passes will be distributed to students who fill certain requirements.
The festival has placed great importance on the discovery of new talent with its First Films World Competition and Student Film Festival, the oldest continuing film festival in Canada.
"By offering free accreditation to students in cinema and journalism, the MWFF is supporting the emergence of new talent in film and media and is re-emphasizing its fervent commitment to the future of the seventh art," declared MWFF president Serge Losique.
Registration forms may be obtained by emailing accreditations@ffm-montreal.org.
The 36th edition of the Montreal World Film Festival runs from August 23 to September 3, 2012. This year's honoured guest is Mel Hoppenheim, namesake of Concordia's cinema school.
