Following the massive rainfall of May 29, numerous flooding incidents in buildings across Sir George Williams and Loyola campuses have created a long list of renovations.
While some facilities – like Le Gym in the basement of the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV) and the Webster Library – are still undergoing repairs, others –– like the Henry F. Hall Building – are back to regular operations. In all cases, the university’s facilities management team takes seriously the work of ensuring that all necessary work is complete before reopening flood-damaged areas.
“Making sure that Concordia maintains a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty and staff is a central part of our work,” says Associate Vice-President of Facilities Management Peter Bolla. “We take any issues with our buildings seriously, and with water infiltration in particular, we deal with the situation quickly and thoroughly.”
Bolla and his staff are aiming to complete the remaining repairs in time for the start of the fall term. In the meantime, access to some buildings may be limited to accommodate construction crews.
