To celebrate Earth Day, April 20, the Sir George Williams Campus bookstore is giving away a reusable bag with every purchase of $10 or more. “We are committed to supporting the university’s sustainability objectives. The bag giveaway gesture on Earth Day reinforces that commitment,” says Daniel Houde, Director, Campus Retail Stores.
Since 2009, Campus Retail Stores (Bookstores, Computer Store, Digital Store) stopped giving away plastic bags with purchases. Customers are instead invited to buy a non-woven tote-bag or bring their own reusable bag.
This initiative is estimated to have eliminated the use of more than 125,000 plastic bags each year, providing Concordia with an environmentally friendly shopping experience.
