Concordia Libraries normally have two types of study zones: orange zones allow for quiet conversation, while blue zones are for silent study.
Leading up to the exam period, from April 2 to 20, all study zones are designated blue zones.
The need for lots of peaceful study space during the exam period, especially the first week of exams and in the week preceding, is reinforced by requests made by students. The libraries are two of the very few locations, on campus or off, where students can hope to find a silent spot for studying. For this reason, the Libraries are pleased to expand the silent study zones throughout all the library study space during this period.
An exception is made for the Libraries’ bookable group study rooms, where the ability to hold group discussions remains unchanged.
Otherwise, students are encouraged to look farther afield should they wish to hold discussions while studying, for example in the lobby of the J.W. McConnell Library Building where study tables are traditionally set out during exam time.
The Libraries’ bi-colour plan, blue and orange zones, are to be restored after midnight leading into Saturday, April 21.
The cooperation of all library users in maintaining silence throughout the Libraries is greatly appreciated, as students prepare for the key moments in their educational programs.
Additionally, as has been done in the past, entrance to the Webster Library during this period is limited to persons showing a valid Concordia ID card. This guarantees the best possible access to study facilities for Concordia students.
Best of luck to all of you for success in your exams!
