Email phishing attacks

In the wake of several phishing scams at Concordia, a reminder to delete any such emails immediately

In the wake of several phishing scams at Concordia (please see latest below), Instructional and Information Technology Services (IITS) wishes to remind everyone to please delete any such emails immediately.

Phishers send out mass emails to targeted recipients with the hopes of at least a few recipients replying with their personal information. Unfortunately, Concordia is often targeted due to the large number of account holders.

Concordia University will never ask for your personal information by phone, email, or URL unless it is in response to a support request you have initiated.

Concordia University will never ask for your password, nor should businesses, banks, and other institutions. Please take the time to read IITS' email phishing FAQ.

If you clicked on the URL or replied to the email with your username and password, please change your Alcor and netname passwords immediately by following these steps:

  • Log into your MyConcordia portal
  • Click on "Personal Services" in the main menu followed by "Computer Accounts & Passwords"
  • Under "Existing personal accounts" click on your Alcor and netname accounts
  • You will then have the option to enter a new secure password.

If you are ever unsure of the authenticity of an email, or if you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the IITS Service Desk at (514) 848-2424, ext. 7613 or help@concordia.ca.
