Concordia students who completed entrepreneurial projects during the past year may submit an application to the Quebec entrepreneurial contest by March 19, 2012, to compete for half a million dollars in prizes.
The contest aims to develop Quebec’s entrepreneurial culture by recognizing contributions from students and the community at large, regardless of the age of the participants.
The contest is divided into two categories: business creation, which recognizes newly created businesses, and student entrepreneurship, which recognizes projects completed since June 2011.
Projects that will be considered for local, regional, or provincial prizes in student entrepreneurship must involve setting up a business or a co-operative in a school setting, or organizing a project in a community setting that helps develop students’ entrepreneurial values.
A gala to honour the winners will be held in Quebec City on June 20, 2012. Prizes at the provincial level range in value from $2,000 to $3,000.
The Quebec Entrepreneurship Contest was developed in 1997 as a result of the merger of three separate entrepreneurship contests. Last year, 52,338 students representing 2,399 projects participated in the contest.
