Nominations for potential honorary degree recipients are currently being sought by the Honorary Degree and Convocation Committee (HDCC), a joint Board and Senate committee. All nominations are screened by the HDCC and approved by the Board of Governors, upon recommendation of Senate.
Candidates must meet several criteria to be considered. For example, nominees must have sufficient stature and recognition to ensure that the awarding of an honorary degree upholds the values that lead to the advancement of learning, and to the pursuit of greater knowledge.
Current members of the Board of Governors and their family members, as well as current members of the university community, are ineligible.
Those wishing to submit a nomination should consult the Guidelines for the Awarding of Honorary Degrees.
Nominators must complete and sign the Honorary Degree Nomination Form and submit it before March 23, 2012 to:
Danielle Tessier, HDCC Secretary, 1550 De Maisonneuve W., Room GM 801-23, or via email attachment to Danielle.Tessier@concordia.ca.
Recent recipients of honorary degrees from Concordia include forensic anthropologist and bestselling author Kathy Reichs; Xavier-Henri Hervé, president of Mechtronix World Corp and president and COO of Mechtronix Systems Inc.; and Robert Courteau, president of the North American division of SAP.
