The first phase of the two-year construction project to replace the escalators in the Henry F. Hall Building is underway.
The project will include the installation of new escalators and a permanent staircase, which leads to and from the mezzanine (to be completed by the fall). This means that the temporary walls, which currently house the construction area, will remain in place until mid-September. Signage will indicate alternate traffic patterns.
To access the mezzanine level, people should enter by the Mackay Street entrance or the flight of stairs on the east side of the lobby (between the D. B. Clarke Theatre and the security department). The elevators will continue to be in operation.
Questions about the project should be directed to the Service Centre, 514-848-2424, ext. 2400. Students may also contact the Access Centre for Students with Disabilities at ext. 3525 with concerns.
A full project plan will be available on the NOW website later this summer.
