University holidays and summer hours announced for 2011-12

Concordia's Department of Human Resources has posted the official university holidays and the summer hours for 2011-12

The official university holidays are:

Victoria Day (Journée nationale des patriotes), Monday, May 23, 2011
St-Jean-Baptiste Day (Fête nationale), Friday, June 24
Canada Day, Friday, July 1
Labour Day, Monday, September 5
Thanksgiving Day, Monday , October 10
Saturday, December 24, 2011, to Monday, January 2, 2012, inclusively*
President’s Day, Friday, February 24 (Reading week is February 20 to 24 )
Good Friday, Friday, April 6
Easter Monday, Monday, April 9
Victoria Day (Journée nationale des patriotes), Monday, May 21
St-Jean-Baptiste Day (Fête nationale), Monday, June 25
Canada Day, Monday, July 2

*Employees are expected to work Friday, December 23, and to return to work Tuesday, January 3.

The much-anticipated summer Fridays for 2011 are:

Friday, June 10
Friday, June 17
Thursday, June 23 – to replace Friday, June 24 (university closed)
Thursday, June 30 – to replace Friday, July 1 (university closed)
Friday, July 8
Friday, July 15
Friday, July 22
Friday, July 29
Friday, August 5
Friday, August 12

Where feasible, the President’s Executive Group recommends a 1 p.m. closure on the noted dates. In units that cannot close on Fridays because they provide essential support functions, managers will arrange to provide their staff with equivalent time away from work in accordance with operational requirements, university policies, and applicable contractual agreements.

The Security Department and the Accounting and Restricted Funds sectors will continue to provide services during the summer hour period.
