Environmental Health & Safety and Facilities Management have investigated the source of the odor on the 9th floor of the GM building.
There is currently some work being done with a silicone-based caulking. The work is being performed inside an enclosed area where all the ventilation ducts have been sealed off.
Although the odour may be unpleasant, silicone-based caulking does not have any known lasting health effects, especially at the extremely low levels that may be entering occupied spaces in the GM building.
Environmental Health & Safety and Facilities Management will continue to monitor this issue as the day progresses. Occupants are advised to report any unusual odours to the Service Centre, 514-848-2424, ext. 2400.
