Temporary closure of egress between EV and GM Buildings

Doors leading from GM Building to EV closed due to construction on south facade

Due to the project to refurbish the Guy-Metro (GM) Building, the passageway between the GM and the Engineering,Computer Science and Visual Arts Integrated Complex (EV Building) will be closed from April 26 to May 2. UPDATE: the egress will remain closed until May 9.

The closure is to assure the safety of passersby when the concrete panels for the south exterior wall are carried overhead.

Also affected by the closure are access to the Desjardins bank machine in the EV lobby and room EV 1.162, where thesis defenses are held. The thesis defenses have already been relocated.

Update on progress
All concrete wall panels have been removed from the east facade and the new facade will be rebuilt to resemble the nearby John Molson School of Business and EV Buildings. As work on the south facade begins, access to the GM parking garage via De Maisonneuve Boulevard will be restored.

Questions about the closure and the GM refurbishment project should be directed to the Service Centre at 514-848-2424, ext. 2400.
