Finalizing academic plan deferred to Fall 2011

Timeline to adopt the plan extended to fall 2011 to incorporate broad-based feedback.

Provost David Graham has circulated the following announcement:

Dear colleagues,

In reading some 300 pages of comments on the draft academic plan, I have been made aware of the strong desire on the part of many colleagues to extend the timeline in order to produce a plan to which we can all wholeheartedly subscribe.

The members of the Academic Plan Working Group and of Senate's Academic Planning and Priorities Committee have echoed this sentiment. With these views in mind, I have recommended to President Fred Lowy that final consideration of the plan be deferred to the fall, and he has accepted my recommendation.

In the meantime, the working group will continue the task of revising the first consultation draft. You can expect to see substantial changes as the group digests the feedback, seeks additional counsel, and reworks the current version of the plan.

Let me thank you for your energetic engagement in this important process, and please accept my very best wishes for the remainder of the semester.

David Graham
Provost and Vice President, Academic Affairs
