
The Montreal Gazette, the StarPhoenix, the Vancouver Sun and the Ottawa Citizen interviewed Kyle Matthews and Frank Chalk, respectively lead researcher and director of Concordia’s Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS). The two Concordia experts discussed “The Promise of the Media in Halting Mass Atrocities” conference organised by MIGS to mark he 10th anniversary of the Responsibility to Protect. Mathews and Chalk also spoke to Embassy Magazine and Le Devoir and discussed how new media and technology can give victims of atrocities a voice. Matthews discussed the role played by the media in Libya in Foreign Policy Magazine. Matthews, and Senator and LtGen (ret) Roméo A. Dallaire, a MIGS senior fellow, spoke to CBC’s Homerun on October 19 and CJAD’s Tommy Schnurmacher Show on October 20. They discussed the MIGS conference and Moammar Gadhafi’s death. Dallaire also appeared on Radio- Canada’s “La nuit qui bat” on October 19. Cyberpresse features an Op-ed by Chalk, MAtthews and Dallaire. Dallaire was also interviewed by CBC Radio’s Power and Politics on October 21.
