A collaborative research project between researchers at Concordia, the Université de Montréal and the Université de Laval with the support of Standard Life Assurance has found that job insecurity, abusive supervision, excessive demands, the encroachment of work on family life and domestic relationship problems top the list of factors that contribute to the development of mental health issues in the workplace. The article mentions a study conducted by Sylvia Kairouz, professor in the Department Sociology and Anthropology, in collaboration with a colleague from the Université de Montréal about gambling habits in Quebec.

The Toronto Telegraph discusses research conducted by Benjamin Fung, professor in the Concordia Institute for Information Systems Engineering, in collaboration with Gaby Dagher, a PhD candidate who is supervised by Fung. Fung and Dagher have created a new technique to help law enforcement experts catch cybercriminals. Le Journal Métro features research conducted by Homa Hoodfar, professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, in collaboration with Anissa Hélie of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Hoodfar and Hélie co-edited Sexuality in Muslim Contexts, which examines the resistance against harsh policing of sexuality in some Muslim societies.

Absolute Arts features a piece on Ignition, an exhibition running at the Leonard and Bina Ellen Art Gallery (Ellen Gallery) highlighting artworks by graduate students in the Department of Studio Arts. The exhibition ends Saturday, June 8 and is curated by jake moore, director of the Faculty of Fine Arts Gallery and part-time instructor in the Department of Design and Computation Arts, and Michèle Thériault, director of the Ellen Gallery.
