Tapping into the brain's response to emotions to make music.
Erin Gee, a student in the Faculty of Fine Arts, in collaboration with an Australian neuroscientist, has created a software and hardware system that creates music by using the brain’s response to emotion. This research may have a significant impact for those who have difficulty expressing emotions: Radio-Canada Montréal, Le Journal de Québec, Le Journal de Montréal, ECN, Health Canal, Global News Toronto.and Live Science.
Gee was interviewed by the CBC Cinq a Six (audio clip) and she spoke to the CBC’s Ian Hamilton (no clip currently available). A video is also available on Youtube of Gee having a needle inserted that allows the computer program to ‘listen’ to her brain’s response to her emotional reactions.
