Concordia recommends candidate for president, appoints new Board chair and JMSB dean

Montreal, April 19, 2012 — Concordia University is pleased to announce that Alan Shepard will be presented to the Concordia community on April 24 as the candidate for president and vice-chancellor. In addition, Norman Hébert, Jr. has been appointed chair of the Board of Governors, and Steve Harvey has been named dean of the John Molson School of Business.

Dr. Alan Shepard recommended as candidate for Concordia president
The Board of Governors of Concordia University is pleased to announce that following the unanimous recommendation of the Presidential Search Committee, Dr. Alan Shepard will be presented to the Concordia community as the candidate for president and vice-chancellor.

The introduction of Dr. Shepard is the final step in the search process and will take place on April 24, 2012, during a joint meeting of the Board of Governors and Senate, which will be open to the Concordia community. The meeting will begin at 12 p.m. and will be held in the D.B. Clarke Theatre, located in the Hall Building, basement level, 1455 De Maisonneuve Blvd. West. (Read more)

Norman Hébert, Jr. is named chair of Concordia’s Board of Governors
Concordia University is pleased to announce that on the recommendation of its Governance and Ethics Committee, Norman Hébert, Jr. has been named chair of the university’s Board of Governors for a three-year term to begin July 1, 2012.

“Norman Hébert, Jr. has been committed to Concordia for many years. He is well known in Quebec as a successful business leader as well as a highly engaged philanthropist,” says current Board Chair Peter Kruyt. “His leadership skills will be vital in Concordia’s continuing development as one of the top comprehensive universities in Canada.” (Read more)

Steve Harvey named dean of the John Molson School of Business
Concordia Provost David Graham is pleased to announce the appointment of Steve Harvey as dean of the John Molson School of Business for a five-year term to take effect July 1, 2012.

“Steve Harvey is a distinguished scholar and teacher with an exceptional academic and professional record,” says Graham. “He is a dynamic administrator who will be an excellent dean and a great addition to the university’s senior academic leadership.” (Read more)
