Congress 2010 / Canada's digital economy, the ethics of pornography and the transition to parenthood

The Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences is holding a special media briefing session which will feature three Canadian researchers on topics of national and international relevance.

New research featured in this session:

Catherine Middleton, Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair (Ryerson University), will examine the recently launched consultation on the digital economy, paying specific attention to who should get involved in the consultation and why it matters to Canadians.

Evangelos Tziallas, Graduate student with the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema (Concordia University), explores amateur pornography on the website XTube, a pornographic cross between YouTube and Facebook.

Bonnie J. Fox, Professor of Sociology, (University of Toronto), explores the changes in gender relations between couples as they enter their first year of parenthood.

Organised by the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, the annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences brings together about 9,000 researchers, scholars, graduate students, practitioners, and policy makers to share groundbreaking research and examine the most important social and cultural issues of the day.
