MONTREAL/May 18, 2010—
On May 21, Steve Lake will return to his alma mater, Sir George Williams, one of Concordia University’s founding institutions, to take in the spectacular changes that have taken place there in the past four decades.
The former Montrealer, now working as a pit boss at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, is a notorious and enthusiastic participant in college tours across Canada, the United States, China, Costa Rica, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Italy. Media outlets such as Newsweek, USA Today, Maclean’s and the Associated Press have covered Lake’s unique appetite for campus life, with articles appearing as far away as Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
Lake graduated from Sir George Williams in 1970. On his honeymoon in 1984, Lake and his wife Caroline went on their first campus tour, visiting the famed universities in the Boston area. It ignited a passion that took them to 504 different colleges and universities (Caroline joined him on 130 of these) over the following 26 years. Their busiest week saw them touring 40 different campuses!
At Concordia, Lake will be given the opportunity to discover new buildings including the John Molson School of Business and the Engineering, Computer Science and Visual Arts Complex. He will also be able to appreciate the significant transformations that have taken places in iconic facilities such as the Henry F. Hall Building, and will be given a tour of the new public art works in Concordia’s ever-growing collection. He will stroll through newly developed green spaces in Quartier Concordia, such as Place Bethune, the Grey Nuns’ Mother House, and visit the tunnels that link the university’s buildings and the Metro system.
Members of the media are welcome to join Steve Lake on his tour of Concordia’s downtown campus.
