Concordia University honours four Quebec financial institutions at John Molson School of Business Awards of Distinction

MONTREAL/November 24, 2008—

Concordia University is pleased to announce today that it is honouring four pillars of Quebec’s business community at the John Molson School of Business Awards of Distinction cocktail reception.

The award recipients are: the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, represented by Chairman of the Board Pierre Brunet; Desjardins Group, represented by Chair of the Board, President and CEO Monique F. Leroux, Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc., represented by Chairman of the Board John LeBoutillier; and National Bank Financial Group, represented President and CEO Louis Vachon.

John Molson School of Business (JMSB) Dean Sanjay Sharma said it’s the first time in the award ceremony’s 20-year history that the JMSB will recognize institutions rather than individuals. “We chose to honour four financial institutions that are the backbone of the Quebec economy. They rely on us to turn out qualified students and enhance the understanding of best business practices. We, in turn, count on the business community to provide real-world applications of our research and for financial support to secure our position as one of Canada’s top business schools.”

Concordia President and Vice-Chancellor Judith Woodsworth said, “The awards represent the mutually beneficial partnership between academia and the business community that is vital to the success of graduates, as well as our economic future.”

The awards ceremony and cocktail reception will be held in the Auditorium (Level 1) of the Centre Mont-Royal, 2200 Mansfield St., from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
