MONTREAL/October 22, 2008—
Concordia University President Judith Woodsworth and Vice-President, External Relations and Secretary-General Bram Freedman are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Russell Copeman as Associate Vice-President, Government Relations. Copeman will take up his new duties on October 27, 2008.
For the last 14 years, Copeman has been the Member of the Quebec National Assembly for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. From April 2007, he served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Social Services and from 2003-2007, he was the Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Social Affairs.
President Woodsworth and Vice-President Freedman are confident that Copeman’s background, experience and leadership skills will allow the University to forge strategic relationships with key public policy decision makers at the federal, provincial and municipal levels of government in order to promote the University's perspectives, positions and priorities.
“Russell Copeman knows the university well and will use his extensive experience as an MNA to make sure Concordia’s interests are addressed at the various levels of government,” said President Woodsworth. “He will be a wonderful addition to an excellent team.”
