Acclaimed Artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude Speak at Concordia University

MONTREAL/February 1, 2008—

On Tuesday, February 5, 2008, internationally acclaimed artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude will deliver a lecture at Concordia University as part of the Concordia Student Union’s annual Speaker Series. The talk will specifically address two current projects, Over the River: Project for the Arkansas River, Colorado, and The Mastaba: Project for the United Arab Emirates, focusing on the artists work; present and future.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude are two of the most important artists of recent decades. They are best known for their large installations, including The Gates in New York City. This 2005 project, the largest public art display in the city’s history, saw Central Park transformed by 7,053 bright orange gates placed along the park’s many walkways.

Seating is reserved for Concordia students with a very limited number of seats available on a first come first served basis to the general public.
